About Us

We’re a group of homeschool moms who want to help you homeschool your own children.

“We can get too easily bogged down in the academic part of homeschooling, a relatively minor part of the whole, which is to raise competent, caring, literate, happy people.”

Meet the Moms

Christina Barnes

Reader, Teacher, Mother of 6

Christina is a Nashville native who loves reading, hiking, and camping with her family. Her favorite part of the day is reading a great book on the couch with her children while enjoying a nice cup of tea. She loves to recommend great books, authors, and camping spots. She and her husband Jonathan are proud parents of 4 girls and 2 boys, aged 3 to 17. Her favorite color is turquoise blue, and she knows every word to every Beatles song.

June Kern

Artist, Teacher, Mother of 4

June is a homeschool mom of four, lover of gardening, cooking, and the old fashion art of note writing. With a degree in art, June has spent several years teaching elementary art and loves taking her family to see art around the world. Though vowing in her 20’s never to homeschool, she loves being proved wrong! Discovering great, living books (mostly through friend’s booklists & suggestions) is one of her greatest joys in teaching her children.

Maggie Purifoy

Educator, Teacher, Mother of 3

Maggie graduated from Covenant College with a degree in Elementary Education. She spent several years in the classroom, including working at Vienna Christian School in Austria. She helped her husband, Thomas, establish The American School of Lyon in France. Since then, she has homeschooled her own 3 children; her oldest graduated high school this year. Besides talking about books, her favorite thing to do is teach children to read, or help their moms along the way. She recently taught Medieval History and Literature to a class of 7-9th graders, which she throughly enjoyed!
